From House to Haven: The Story of 1044 Collier

2017 marked the beginning of major structural improvements at 1044 Collier Drive. The home underwent a soft-story and crawl space earthquake retrofit, ensuring enhanced safety and stability. Along with this, the electrical panel was upgraded to 200 amps, providing modern capacity and efficiency for the home’s future upgrades.

By 2019, attention shifted to revitalizing and modernizing the home’s core systems. A new roof was installed, paired with fresh insulation for better energy efficiency and comfort. The owners also took the opportunity to remove asbestos and perform a thorough attic cleanup, creating a safer and cleaner living environment.

In 2021, the home continued to evolve with sustainability and comfort in mind. Solar panels were installed to reduce energy costs and environmental impact, while a fireplace insert and mantel were added to elevate the living space’s warmth and aesthetic appeal. The exterior was repainted, giving the property a refreshed look, and a whole-house water filter was added for improved water quality throughout.

The year 2023 brought a wave of modernization and functional upgrades. The wall separating the dining and living rooms was removed to create an open-concept layout, and all three bathrooms were fully renovated. Outdoors, the cracked patio concrete was replaced with pavers, and new landscaping and planter boxes transformed the backyard into a beautiful retreat. Additional updates included air conditioning installation, epoxy flooring in the garage, and a complete den renovation with a full kitchen and new flooring—turning it into a versatile and inviting space.

Most recently, in 2025, the homeowners focused on finishing touches and interior updates. New light fixtures were installed in the bedrooms, along with a flush-mount recessed light above the sink to enhance functionality and style. The interior was repainted, including both bedrooms and various touch-ups throughout the home, while the front door was sanded and re-stained, adding a fresh, welcoming look to the entrance.
