About Katie Hennessey

Katie was born and raised in Orange County, CA. and moved to the Bay Area in 2002. As the daughter of a Cal alumnus, she visited the East Bay regularly growing up and dreamed of one day calling the area home. She is proud to have lived that dream for nearly twenty years and feels passionately about continuing to live and raise her children in Oakland, while helping others to make a home here and join her in contributing to the vibrancy of this truly special place.

In addition to a career as a realtor, she has been a teacher for 20 years. She started her teaching career in New Orleans, fresh from completing a Bachelor’s Degree at Loyola Marymount University. Since living in Oakland, she has worked at several schools throughout the Bay Area, teaching high school, undergraduate, and graduate students while also completing a Master’s and Ph.D. at The Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley. Over these years in the Bay Area she formed an extensive web of relationships that are central to her life.

She and her wife, Shannon, married in 2008 and have had the great joy of welcoming three little girls into their family--and luckily the girls welcomed Shannon and Katie into theirs as well! These three girls are her driving force as she builds her real estate career. She is also empowered by the example of her mother who became a real estate agent around the same age in life as Katie. Katie watched her mom grow and run a business that she loves, helping many of Katie’s friends and classmates buy their first (and some now second and third) homes. Katie is emulating her mother in creating a business that is about relationships, genuine care, and an instinctive understanding of what makes a home. 

Katie’s experiences as a learner, teacher, and mother have taught her crucial values and skills that she brings into her work as a real estate agent. First and foremost, the value of relationships – of listening to people in order to know them and to meet their needs. She also values commitment and follow-through. Running a home, guiding many classrooms, and navigating academia have taught her how to get things done. She is organized, proactively communicative, responsive to evolving needs and situations, deeply trustworthy, and genuinely enthusiastic about making other people’s lives better. Katie sticks with a job and she will see you though! She will not only finish your real estate transaction, but complete the job in such a way that you and your family and friends will enthusiastically call her for any future real estate needs. She can’t wait to work with you!
