I’m excited to finally celebrate this sweet family’s new home purchase. Derek and Naomi actually closed escrow a month ago, but due to various travel plans we were unable to do a proper in-person key hand-off until this past weekend as they were moving in. These two came two me a couple of years after the first time they tried to buy in Oakland. At that time, they made offers on a handful of properties with no success, and they simply didn’t feel any urgent need to keep pushing. When we met, the challenges of weathering a pandemic in a San Francisco apartment with a toddler had created the sense of urgency--or should I say the focused attention needed:)--to buy their first home. Then, as luck and a very strong offer would have it, they actually got their first offer accepted, on only the second home they toured!
Lesson learned on this one was that if you like the home, make an offer!! When they made their offer, we were at a moment in the market when people were being scared off by the high prices, which created this little window of time when a number of homes in this very sought after neighborhood were only getting a couple of offers. Theirs was one of only two offers on this adorable home on a street with a very tightly knit neighborhood vibe. They have already been welcomed with open arms and are so excited to raise their growing family in this home. Sometimes the stars align!!
